The unusual - perhaps - Company Name is a reference to my mountaineering past. A Hexentric* being a piece of climbing safety equipment that aims to stop climbers hitting the ground should a fall occur.

In the late 1970's - mid 1980's I was a mountaineering addict. On creating my company - with the same all consuming aspirational passion, addiction, focus, drive and willingness to take calculated risks that I had given to mountaineering - naming it Hexcentric Ltd seemed obvious, at least to me.

A simple variation of a word communicating everything that is great about focused aspiration, that has enabled my company to survive the .com boom / bust, that continues to sustain and drive my company forward today in what is the highly competitive, truly global, market.

* The spelling of Hexentric - the piece of climbing equipment - which I extended to Hexcentric as my Company Name - was taken from the Glossary of a book ”Mountains by John Cleare, Macmillan London Ltd, 1975.”

The spelling in that book may, or may not, be correct, which sort of amuses me.

Amuses me in the same way that after completing 1,500+ feet of abseiling off the American Direct on the Petite Dru and descending onto the Mer de Glace, the small bush that had supported the last 150 foot abseil detached itself from its frost fractured granite ledge as we pulled the ropes down, landing at our feet in the Bergschrund of the Mer de Glace :-)
